Technology Boosters Meeting on Tuesday, May 6

The new Technology Boosters group is having an organizational meeting on Tuesday May 6 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ithaca High School Library on the Lake Street side of the school campus.

According to parent Paul Davis, the meeting will include a review of the recent Tech Showcase event that highlighted technology education and extra-curricular activities for Ithaca City School District (ICSD) secondary students and featured fun and learning for all ages and levels of technology expertise. Tech Showcase involved students as well as teachers demonstrating what is going on across the district and was funded by a Red and Gold Opportunities Grant from the Ithaca Public Education Initiative (IPEI).

The Tech Showcase was organized by parents, teachers and community members as the kickoff of a new organization that is evolving to become an non-profit organization supportive of technology education. Visit http://icsdtech.org for information.

During the May 6 meeting, attendees will work on drafting a mission, vision and goals for the group. Volunteers will be asked to join sub-committees including communications (membership, list serve, website, logo, etc.), liaison with schools (PTAs, school board, IPEI, administration, businesses, local universities, etc.), bylaws and officer nominations, events, and resource development. If you are interested in spearheading one of these committees, contact Davis.
